The first Mercure Office was opened in 1936 on the famous Place Wilson in Toulouse. It was bought in 1980 by Mr Pierre Chassaigne, specialised in the sale of character property and country estates.

Following its success, he progressively opened 16 other regional offices, making the Mercure Group the market leader of "belles demeures" including 3500 chateaux sold or resold over 25 years.

Pierre Chassaigne is company’s main force, its founder and charismatic leader. Through this passionate person, fascinated by history and a true admirer of the ancient houses, the agency Mercure attained its acknowledgement and leading position in France.

Company’s portfolio includes historic castles, private residences, country houses, hotels, prestigious apartments, hunting grounds, vineyards comprising catalogue of more that 2500 prestigious properties in France.

Today company’s portfolio counts approximately 600 of most beautiful castles in France, whose cost varies from several hundred thousands to several millions euros.

Every year company conducts about 200 transactions exclusively in the segment of historical properties.
